Chi Kinetics exercise is a system of exercise that I have developed after studying sports medicine, psychology, health, meditation, dance and different forms of exercise over the past 30 years. It combines elements of Pilates, Tai Chi and Yoga. Chi Kinetics is a flowing exercise form with a focus on proper breathing along with movement patterns. This exercise form is a mind-body program with accurate and controlled awareness of movement. It is introspective and process centered rather than primarily goal-oriented.
Chi Kinetics is done with proprioceptive* awareness, detailed attention to the correct position of the body and how it moves in space. The focus component of this method of exercise is proper respiration. When practiced with attention, faulty mechanics and movement patterns can be broken down and corrected over time. This is done through different feedback mechanisms, visual, auditory, tactile and kinetic, allowing the student to become more aware of how they perform their movements. The ultimate goal is to be autonomous with no conscious attention given to correct new movement patterns. The different movement patterns, after practice, flow into an effortless, graceful continuum, executed with an inward and direct focus becoming movement meditation. Chi Kinetic movement patterns, after time and mindful training, are done with energetic awareness.
